More than anything political attitudes are formed in the core of ones potential for credulity - The capacity to determine between facts OR fiction! - Blind faith and ignorance impede reason!
The capacity for objective analysis determines these potential outcomes and that potential is derived from mental rigor based on informed intellect -mental rigor and discipline.
These qualities adhere mostly to educated individuals and/or those who are exposed to a plurailty of thought and ideas (an environment of multi thought dimensions found in larger cities/groups)
Hence -The dominance of regressive -emotion based - credulousness and receptiveness to dogma and conspiracy theories in trump's base among the uneducated and/or rural populations.
Add status deprivation -xenophobia and racism to the mix and it's most likely a bridge too far to argue with schmucks!
